Don't Be Hangry!

I’ve been studying in Matthew 4, when Jesus is being tempted in the desert, and God has been revealing so much to me through this. Then one day my spirit laughed a little, then sighed, then wondered and began journeying with God through this topic.

What was really happening there? And how does it apply to us, you and me, right here, right now?

Things began to unroll for me and I have studied this. We’re going to hit on some of the main stuff this month!

Before I dive in, I’d love to know how your summer was!

I hope to be writing about our summer soon, in the meantime take a moment, scroll down and leave a comment telling me about yours! Then come back!

Jesus Tempted in the Desert

Most of us don’t ever get past the first temptation. “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” At this point Jesus had been in that desert for 40 days and 40 nights, fasting. In a desert. Hot. Hungry. If the fig tree is to be any sort of example of Jesus’s humanity I am thinking he was hangry!

Could you imagine what your response would have been? Probably one of two ways, right?

One side you immediately let into to him and let all that hanger come spewing out! Complaints about Satan having to go and mess everything up to begin with! Wasn’t enough that He tried to take glory that is only meant for God on himself and ended getting himself and all his little buddies kicked out. Then he just had to go and ruin things in the garden! That wasn’t even meant for him! He had his chance and blew it, now he’s got to ruin it for everyone else too. Now here you are 2,000 years later...and he has the nerve to ask you to turn some rocks into bread pretending to be all nice to your face and what not. No. Way.

Then the other side, the sweet little good, meek Christian that you are. No devil, I’m fine. I don’t need bread. God’s got me. I will survive. All the while inside of you there are questions and doubts. God is good, but is he good for your good? Is he good in your life beyond the “I’m fine.” Is he good in your life the way he’s been good in your friend’s life, in that speaker’s life? In that worship leader’s life? You wonder if his goodness will be seen in the land of the living, or on the other side of the clouds.

Do you complain or are you full of false humility?

I’m curious, what are some of the goals that you set at the beginning of the year?

Seriously, comment below and tell me about them! I want to hear from you!

I’m also curious, what stopped you. What cut in on you, tempted you, stole from you, kept you from completing your goals, accomplishing the things you set out to accomplish?

How did you respond?

How are you responding even now?

Complaining or false humility?

No Arguing!

Jesus didn’t even argue with the attack on his identity, if you are the Son of God…, instead he went right to the root of the attack. Doubt of God’s provision.

Sweetie, you’ve been in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights. Over the last year life has thrown some unexpected circumstances your way. Here you are, in September and you’re worn out. Those goals you set are unmet, you may even have forgotten about some of them. You are tired, and yes, hangry!

You’re hangry, and searching for the nourishment you’ve been missing.

You’re hangry, lacking the fuel for your soul.

You’re hangry, feeling weak and unable to finish.

You need a rest, a break, some nourishment.

Don't Be Hangry!

You. Can. Have. It.

RIGHT NOW!

The moment to pause, take a look at how you’ve been answering the accuser…”if you are… then… “ When you fight to prove those “if you are” statements, there is something in you that doubts who you are.

I’d like to invite you on a journey with me, to discover who you are. See and know for yourself who God created you to be and forever extinguish those “if you are, then” jabs. As your soul finds nourishment in finding your purpose, you will see the hanger in your life cease. Your nourishment is every word from God, and I will teach you how to study it so that you digest and understand it. Your vision and your mission will become clear, reflecting the glory of God to all those around you. Your goals will be achieved, no longer keeping you in one place year after year.

Will you join me?

If you’re ready for this journey, comment “Nourished. Clear. Achieved.” to let me know that you stuck with me and are truly ready for some transformational changes!
